Stopped by the Intermarque car show in Osseo 2 weeks ago. My boys were pumped! Their favorite cars were this red Ferrari Testarossa and the blue VW Beetle in the background.
We don't ask for reviews. We don't offer discounts or incentives if you leave a review. We don't send follow up emails asking for reviews either.
So why do we have 5 stars? And why did these people take the time out of their busy days to review us well after they left our store?
I don't know the answer.
What I do know, is that every time someone walks through our front door, we're working to make sure that if they are one of those people who leaves reviews, that they can only leave a 5 star review.
How do we do that? Well, it's not the hazelnut coffee.
So basically we deliver friendly, compassionate, brutally honest service and premium quality parts and repairs. That's it. That's our review generating strategy.
But, isn't that the way it's supposed to be?
I didn't even know that these existed. It's like finding the missing link. This is a Jaguar XJ6 C. It's a 2 door sedan. There aren't very many around but my neighbor Jeff had one wander into his shop the other day and of course I found it parked in the alley after it was finished.
Vossen 20x12 rims with 295/30r20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. We have a touch less tire machine and road force balancer that can handle all sorts of low profile tire and rim combinations. If you have expensive forged rims and don’t want scratches, we can handle them.
We consistently deliver high end forged rims to our customers without scratches or scuffs. The combination of our exceptional equipment and expertise allows us to do things other shops just can't.
So, my neighbor Jeff runs a shop called Special Interest Auto Repair in St Louis Park. He works on most vintage British cars, but he specializes in Jaguars. Found this Jaguar E-type parked out back the other day. I'm going to highlight some of the stuff that he does from time to time because it's absolutely amazing what rolls through the alley behind my store.
If you need work done on anything British give Jeff a call at (952) 934-4049.
Car leaking oil? Sometimes the worst leaks don't show up on the driveway. This car was leaking to the inside and it filled up the spark plug well with oil. There were no drips on the driveway at all. Luckily the ignition coils weren't wrecked, but we did change the spark plugs and replace the valve cover gasket along with spark plug seals.
If you need tires, you've come to the right place. Most of the time when you go to buy tires the employee you are dealing with will be trying to sell you the tires that are best for them. That means, what they have available quickly, what they make the most money on, or the tire company that's paying them a $20 spiff for each set they sell.
That's not how we operate at Motolux. What's most important to us about tires, is what's most important to you. When you come in to purchase a set of tires you are going to walk out of here with a set of tires that fits your specific situation. We have the expertise and concern for our customers that allows us to get you what you need. That may mean spending a little extra, or it may mean buying a really cheap set. To us, it's not the price of the tire that matters, it's matching your needs to the tire that can help you get what you need.
This is what sets Motolux apart from other tire stores in St Louis Park and Edina. We've found that many of our clients actually enjoy buying tires here instead of feeling like they were steered into something that doesn't really work for them. You can expect a comfortable, polite experience at Motolux, which is exactly how we've designed it to be.

Just did an oil change on a super rare Jeep Trackhawk. Why does D bring his Trackhawk to Motolux? He told me it’s the only place he trusts to do it right. He doesn’t even let the dealer work on it. Really appreciate the kind words D! Enjoy your Mobil1 oil change and rotate and I’ll see you soon!
BMW spark plug job. This one had oil in the spark plug well, very common on BMW 328i and BMW X3. The oil leaked in from the valve cover gasket. Time for a new BMW gasket!
This cabin air filter was from when the car was new...100,000 miles ago. It’s a good idea to replace them every 50,000 miles so they don’t get this bad. The cabin filter impacts the air you breathe inside the vehicle. You don’t want to be breathing all that dust and dirt, or the bacteria that’s living in it. Plus a dirty filter restricts the air flow which can cause your windows to fog up and reduce the ability of your defroster to clear them.
